ENPA: iPad subscriptions should be up to publishers, not Apple

The European Newspapers Publishers’ Association praises the iPad and other tablet devices for providing digital content to subscribers. However, ENPA believes newspaper publishers should be the ones to decide subscription prices and payment options for subscribers. In a statement, ENPA said: “Newspaper publishers should have freedom of choice of payment systems for their readers and the possibility to negotiate pricing levels for their digital publications.” That raises some interesting questions.
