Raise your hand if you have used Metromix. No? Okay, apparently you aren’t alone. In 2007, Gannett launched the entertainment website in conjunction with Tribune Co. (Chicago Tribune’s parent company). The site is allegedly the “go-to” guide for 24 to 35 year olds for restaurants, night life, music and bars. Since 2007, Metromix has grown to include 60 markets, but Gannett recently decided to shut down seven of the least successful ones. Matt Farley, lead producer of Denver’s Metromix (which is one of the seven to be shut down), noted on DenverPost.com that only “two or three out of the company’s roughly 60 markets were doing well.”
